Shown to reduce cognitive decline from organic causes
Up to 60 times more potent than Piracetam, with strong psychostimulation
Shown to increase cold resistance, physical and mental stamina
Shown effective against asthenia (weakness), while reducing anxiety and depression
Some immunosupportive action shown
Phenylpiracetam (Phenotropil or Carphedon) or (RS)-2-(2-oxo-4-phenylpyrrolidin-1-yl)acetamide is a racetam derivative of Piracetam, differing only by having an additional benzene ring. Reported to be up to 30 60 times more potent than Piracetam, and has been shown to exert more neuroprotective, stimulatory and anti-amnesic properties than Piracetam. While also having a unique ability to improve physical stamina. Phenylpiracetam has been shown to be a general stimulant, more so than most other racetam nootropics, it is also particularly useful at increasing cold tolerance in physical exercise. Phenylpiracetam is well absorbed by the body, quickly reaching the brain and exerting its effect as a psychostimulant and cognitive enhancer. Some research has even shown a slight anti-depressant effect and some immunosupportive functions.
Take 1 2 tablets, 2 3 times daily as required.
Each tablets contains exactly 100mg of pure Phenylpiracetam. It is advised to begin with a small 1 tablet dose to assess your individual reaction. This should be repeated throughout the day as required. As a general rule of thumb the optimum daily dosage seems to be between 200mg to 600mg daily. Phenylpiracetam is water soluble as so can be taken without the need for a meal before hand. As with all racetam like nootropics, we advise supplementing your dose with a good source of choline to achieve optimum benefit from Phenylpiracetam. Alpha GPC or Citicoline are a great source of choline we offer.
Phenylpiracetam is a phenyl derivative of the parent compound Piracetam, with purported rapid and easy absorption due to an enhanced lipophilicity. It is up to 60 times more potent than Piracetam and is claimed to be both mental and physically stimulating, increasing both physical performance and cold resistance. One study showed Phenylpiracetam to be more stimulating, neuroprotective and anti-amnesic than Piracetam One study found the psychostimulation to be moderately strong with some sleep disturbances reported.
Since its discovery in Russia in the early 1990s there has been various studies showing its efficacy as a treatment for those suffering from cognitive decline due to organic causes. [ 6] Phenylpiracetam is mainly used for asthenia (weakness) but studies have shown a significant reduction in anxiety and depression. One study found that symptoms of depression were attenuated with those suffering from cognitive decline when Phenylpiracetam was given at 100mg twice daily.
In addition to these findings, research has shown that rats injected with Phenylpiracetam showed improved motor functions (velocity and distance).
There is one study showing an immunosupportive function of Phenylpiracetam after immunostress was artificially induced.
How Does Phenylpiracetam Work?
Due to Phenylpiracetam being a derivative of Piracetam, it is assumed to work in the same way as Piracetam and many other racetam like nootropics. Action as a positive allosteric modulator of the AMPA receptor is likely, causing an increase in neuron excitability. There may also be an improved blood flow action, increasing oxygen supply to the brain, further facilitating optimum cognition. NMDA glutamate and ACh receptors activation may also be a part of the mechanism improving learning and memory while also increasing alertness and energy. As Phenylpiracetam has a marked effect on physical stimulation, the action upon glutamate is probable with further sympathetic mechanisms also implicated.
