Growth hormone releasing peptide 6, or GHRP 6 is a hexapeptide hormone. It is made up of 6 amino acid chain and one of the more famous synthetic metenkephalin analogs. It is available as a nonpyrogenic, freeze dried powder that needs to be reconstituted in sterile or bacteriostatic water before intramuscular, subcutaneous or intravenous administration. GHRP 6 is categorized as a growth hormone secretagogue (GHS).

As a GHS, it has the ability to promote increased production of growth hormones in the body. It also promotes similar actions towards the skin, muscle mass and joints. Moreover, it has the ability to undo or lessen the symptoms associated with human growth hormone deficiency.

Hormone replacement therapy through GHRP is a healthy and more effective way to improving improved health outcomes amongst users. It also offers improved energy and vigor however, it is critical to know that it does not act on growth hormone releasing hormone (GHRH) receptors; instead it mainly acts on the receptor of HGH secretagogue. The HGH secretagogue receptor is also known as the ghrelin receptor.  Ghrelin is found on the cells of the stomach and is also a powerful growth hormone stimulator itself. More importantly, it has the ability to protect the neurons.

What are the benefits of GHRP 6 supplementation?

Benefits associated with GHRP 6 supplementation includes weight loss even without exercise and diet, better feelings of general well-being, enhanced quality of life, better moods, improved energy levels, strength and stamina, increased metabolism, improved skin elasticity, smoother, healthier and younger looking skin, decreased skin wrinkles, reduction of skin sagging, memory and concentration enhancement, improved hair growth, improved performance and sex drive, enhanced immunity, and improved sleeping patterns. Aside from these beneficial effects, GHRP 6 may be used to treat symptoms of some medical conditions. Some studies have shown that it may be an effective treatment for the decreased production of growth hormones amongst individuals suffering from hypothyroidism.

GHRP 6 in treating hypothyroidism

In one study aiming to discover growth hormone responses to administration of growth hormone releasing peptide 6, eleven patients suffering from primary hypothyroidism were administered with GHRP 6. The researchers recognized that stimulation and secretion of growth hormones in patients suffering from hypothyroidism are decreased. The mechanisms involved with growth hormone decrease amongst this population are not fully understood.

Since GHRP 6 has the ability to increase in vivo and in vitro growth hormonal levels, the researchers hypothesized that it may be an effective treatment to increase GH levels amongst hypothyroidism patients. The researchers enlisted 11 people to receive GHRP 6 and 10 patients to act as normal controls.

To discover the effects of GHRP 6, hypothyroid patients and the normal controls were randomly submitted to three different tests using GHRH, GHRP 6 and GHRH + GHRP 6 on separate days. The TSH, free T4 and growth hormone levels were measured on both sample populations through IGF 1, immunofluorometric assay and radioimmunoassay.

Results showed that patients diagnosed with hypothyroidism had reduced lower peak growth hormone levels after administration of GHRH when compared to the control subjects. It also revealed that GHRP 6 administration significantly increased release of growth hormones amongst the study subjects. Conclusively, the researchers have shown that patients suffering from primary hypothyroidism have increased levels of growth hormones with GHRPP 6 administration as compared to GHRH. This finding suggests that somatostatin plays a role in this process. Therefore, GHRH and GHRP 6 may play role in modulating growth hormone release as well as on thyroid hormone activities. Additional studies are required to explain such study results.

GHRP 6 safety

GHRP 6 is relatively safe for use when used appropriately and within the recommended dosage range. It has a lower possibility for adverse events occurrence and over dosage. It is safe for use primarily because it promotes natural growth hormone release. It also supports healthier pituitary function. For this reason, many individuals prefer to use GHRP’s instead of synthetic GHRH. Some side effects associated with GHRP 6 supplementation includes dizziness, headaches, pain on the injection site, and increased appetite. Some of these side effects are expected to go away on its own. However, it is still important for you to exercise precautions in using GHRP 6.

Evidently, GHRP 6 is an excellent peptide in promoting numerous beneficial effects particularly in having a healthier, lean body, better well-being, improved mood etc. Moreover, there is evidence showing that it may be an effective treatment to decreased levels of growth hormones amongst patients suffering from hypothyroidism. Despite this, more studies is required to ensure its efficiency.
